North Melbourne is mourning the passing of two-time club leading goalkicker Frank Goode, who died on Monday aged 86.

Shinboner No.537, Goode played 73 games for the Kangaroos between 1961-67.

After getting his start with Moe/Heyfield in Victoria's Gippsland region, Goode began his association with North Melbourne in 1958, when he played one game with the Under 19s.

In 1961, he joined North's senior team mid-season and made his debut in the last game of the year against St Kilda at Junction Oval.

When North Melbourne Legend John Dugdale was injured in the mid-1960s, the chance arose for Goode to play at full-forward.

He seized the opportunity, topping the club's goalkicking in 1965 (38 goals) and 1966 (49).

When he retired in 1968 to move overseas, he had 107 goals to his name.

A servant of the club long beyond his playing years, Frank was appointed president of the North Melbourne Past Players and Officials Association in 2007, and was appointed at the same time to the board of the AFL Combined Past Players and Officials Association (CCPOA).

He was the conduit for many North Melbourne past players who have looked to the CPPOA for assistance.

In 2022, Goode was made a life member of the club.

North Melbourne's AFLW players will wear black armbands in honour of Goode in Sunday's match against Adelaide in Hobart.
