An athlete and a scholar, North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroo Kate Gillespie-Jones can do it all.

It’s been a big year for the Gillespie-Jones, who finished her neuroscience PhD earlier this year, all while playing in the AFLW competition.

On Thursday night, her passion and dedication was acknowledged when she was awarded the AFLW Education and Development MVP Award.

The award recognises the player who has successfully combined their football commitments, while also being engaged in work commitment/placement, professional development, education and training.

“The way that Kate has dedicated herself to her studies, while also playing top-tier football is an inspiration,” North head of football operations Laura Kane told North Media.

“We’re incredibly proud of her, and excited about her accomplishments on and off the field.”
