Forward Jarrad Waite says age is no barrier as he looks to replicate his form from last season when North begins its 2016 campaign against Adelaide on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old managed a career-best 23 games in his first season at Arden Street and shared the club's goalkicking award alongside fellow forward Drew Petrie with 42 goals apiece.

Waite said his enthusiasm leading into the home and away season was as strong as ever, naming Petrie as a fine example of someone who had continued to evolve as a player beyond 30 years old.

"They say that age is just a number so you're only as young as you feel, so I feel like (I'm) about 18 anyway," Waite told NMFC.com.au on Tuesday.

"Drew's lost a couple of kilos and (is) looking really good. He's still one of the best runners here … so it just shows if your preparation and your body's really good then you can play.

"You do get over 30 and you do get a line put through you, but it does show that you can play on."

Waite said being able to participate in every training session had helped him increase his longevity and put an end to queries about his durability.

"(I was) lucky enough to play as many games as I did last year but (I) had a lot of help from the boys and the club here, so hopefully it continues this year," he said.

"Being able to work a lot on my leg strength and a lot of my core stuff really helped and made me feel really strong for the whole year."
