Hearing that an Archer took to the Aegis Park track recently and starred would be news all North supporters would love to hear, however while the story in essence is true - there’s a slight twist.

Nine-year old Jackson Archer, son of Shinboner of the Century Glenn, was the player turning heads recently when he pulled on a Kangaroos’ jumper and strolled out onto the oval.

“Obviously I’m a really proud dad and it was pretty great to see Jackson play a part in something that’s so important to the club and means a lot to me,” Glenn Archer told kangaroos.com.au.

Archer senior was speaking about Jackson being the exciting new face in the club’s latest membership commercial.

“My wife Lisa and I are so proud of all four of our kids but since Jackson’s the only boy, it was extra special to see him looking out at all the things that were involved in my career and life at Arden Street.”

North’s new campaign Spirit: Then, Now and Forever features some other special guests including Laurie Dwyer but Jackson Archer is hogging all the limelight.

A part of the Kangaroos’ father-son academy, Jackson is already a budding young footballer although there’s no pressure from his famous father.

“He’s very keen and can’t get enough of it (football) but we wouldn’t worry if he wasn’t interested. It is good to see how much he loves it though because it’s something that holds a special bond between us.”

Preparing himself for a big year coaching Jackson’s under 11’s footy team next season, Archer claims he’ll emulate his premiership coach when it comes to inspiring the young group.

“I definitely have a Denis Pagan style of coaching,” Archer joked.

“No, I think I’m a bit of a softie but it will be good to coach the boys and see how they go. Jackson was runner up in the best and fairest this year in under 10’s and he’s playing a year level above what he should be.”

With memberships now on sale, Archer has urged every supporter to sign up if they want to truly be involved and support the club as it aims for 40,000 members in 2013.

“I say it every year but if you’re really passionate, do your bit and buy a membership. Even if you can’t get to many games there’s no excuse, it’s the best way to get behind us and be involved in an exciting time at North Melbourne.”
