North Melbourne’s new train station will be named ‘Arden’, the state government has confirmed.

Part of the Metro Tunnel development, the station is set to be completed in 2025, and will sit near the corner of Arden and Laurens streets.

It is expected that the Arden-Macaulay precinct will become home to 15,000 residents and create more than 34,000 jobs over the next 30 years.

Arden was the most popular choice in the government’s 2017 competition to name the station.
