North Melbourne has traded Hamish McIntosh to Geelong for Pick 36.

The 28-year-old ruckman played 107 games for the Kangaroos after being drafted at pick 9 in the 2002 National Draft.

It becomes North's third pick in the 2012 National Draft after Pick 14 and 35.

McIntosh was a big reason for North's success in 2007, playing all 25 games on the way to the preliminary final.

At his best McIntosh was one of the leading ruckmen in the competition, however a combination of injuries and the emergence of Todd Goldstein limited him to only eight games in the last two years.

In 2011 McIntosh was forced to have surgery on both achilles and this year, he had LARS on his knee.

McIntosh's departure leaves Goldstein as the clear number one ruckman at Aegis Park with Ben Mabon and Majak Daw also on the list.
