North Melbourne midfielder Daniel Wells will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness for the clash against the Eagles.

Speaking at an open media session at Aegis Park on Thursday, Wells admitted he would be relying on the club’s two remaining training sessions to test his injured calf.

“I’ll train today (Thursday) and again on Saturday and see how it goes. It’s pulled up pretty well. I trained on Monday and I’m looking forward to seeing how it pulls up today after training.

“It feels pretty good. Early days it was a bit worrying but it’s improving pretty quickly.

“We’ll speak to the medical staff and as always they’ll make the final call. You don’t want to get too emotional about it because you could become a liability. They know exactly where my calf’s at and what I’m capable of doing.”

Having not played since Round 20, the number 8 says he was close to playing against the Giants, but the medical staff decided not to risk him.
