North Melbourne’s short injury list will be cut further soon with Liam Anthony recovering well from knee soreness and rookie Ben Speight improving after an ankle injury.

Steve Saunders, Director of Medical Services, is pleased with how the players are tracking and expects Anthony to be fit and available this weekend.

“Liam (Anthony) trained yesterday and is looking really good. He’ll be available to play this weekend,” Saunders told NMFC.com.au.

Eager to return for Werribee after two weeks on the sidelines, Speight will hopefully make his comeback this weekend according to Saunders.

“Ben’s been tracking really well. We fast tracked his training so he will complete the majority of main skills this week.

“He is very likely to be available for this weekend.”

International recruit Eric Wallace has been working hard on his rehabilitation program after a minor knee operation and will begin running within the next week.

“He’s been able to do a lot of part-skill work during his rehab like stationary kicking and marking practice as well as working on his aerobic capacity on the bike and in the pool.

“Eric’s been able to do a lot of long-term work which will be really important to his development.

“He will progress to some over ground running next week and we expect him to be back playing in a few weeks time.”
