The round five fixture has been flipped on its head with West Coast's clash with Richmond on Thursday night postponed due to a hardline stance from the Queensland government.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Victoria, Queensland health officials have serious fears of the Tigers flying in to play the Eagles on Thursday night.

It means the West Coast-Richmond clash and fixtured Sydney-Melbourne game for Sunday will be split.

The Tigers are now preparing to tackle Melbourne this weekend, while West Coast will play Sydney at Metricon.

Carlton and St Kilda have been informed their scheduled Saturday afternoon game at the MCG to move to the primetime Thursday night.

Both the Blues and Saints played on Saturday in round four, therefore have only face a five-day break by playing on the Thursday.

Despite Gold Coast needing to fly into Victoria to play Geelong on Saturday, that match at this stage is expecting to proceed as planned.
