Essendon forward Jake Stringer will be sidelined for Saturday night's clash against North Melbourne.

Stringer sustained a syndesmosis injury during the Bombers' over Collingwood and is set to be out for six to eight weeks.

“It’s disappointing for both Jake and the club. He had a terrific game on Friday evening and underwent scans earlier today which confirmed the nature of his ankle injury,” Essendon's GM Football Dan Richardson told the club's website.

North and Essendon travelled to the Gold Coast on Monday morning, with the teams to face off on Saturday night at Metricon Stadium, at 7.40pm AEST.
