With competition for spots in the Kangaroos’ side fierce, high-flying Werribee is providing plenty of opportunities for the North-listed players to showcase their wares.

The third-placed Tigers, victors in five straight games head to Windy Hill on Saturday to take on Bendigo. Led by Ben Warren, Werribee’s forward six will have to deal with forecast difficult conditions similar to what those faced in the win over Sandringham last week.

An all-North midfield consisting of Malcolm Lynch, Levi Greenwood (if selected) and Will Sierakowski (if selected) could be relied on as the visitors strive for a sixth successive win.

Majak Daw will match up against Essendon-listed ruckman Tom Bellchambers who was omitted from the Bombers’ team. Starved of opportunities to face genuine, AFL-quality big men, Saturday’s match will be a good opportunity for Daw to prove just how far he’s come in his development as a footballer.

In Ballarat at the same time, the Roosters take on Frankston in a must-win game. Gerard Fitzgerald’s team will rely heavily on its North contingent at Eureka Stadium as the home team aims to get its season back on track.

The Delaney brothers will hold down the defensive key positions for North Ballarat, while it will be up to Brad McKenzie and Aaron Mullett to be the start of the Roosters’ attacks with rebound from the back 50. Up forward, Tom Curran will be looking for a strong performance after being held goalless against the Northern Blues.

Matt Campbell and Aaron Edwards have been named in attack. Edwards, spending his second successive week in the VFL will have to perform well to put himself back in contention for selection, while Campbell was named as an emergency last week, suggesting he’s close to a call-up.
