MP shows her true colours
Melbourne MP Bronwyn Pike has thrown her support behind the mighty North Melbourne Football Club.
The local member joined club Chairman James Brayshaw and Chief Executive Eugene Arocca at Arden St to celebrate the announcement of the $2 million cash injection the club will receive for the Arden St Redevelopment as part of the Brumby Government's Victorian AFL Club Facilities Funding Program.
"The new upgrades on Arden St will be used by community organisations and associations as well as improving training facilities for the Kangaroos," Pike told the Melbourne Leader.
Club chief executive Eugene Arocca said the club was thrilled to receive the additional funding for the project.
The club was excited about the potential of the project, which will include the latest administration and recreational facilities.
"It's sensational. This will enhance the club and entrench it in North Melbourne," Arocca said.
"One-third of the facility will be dedicated to community space and it's a perfect way to connect the community to their team and a great way for us to give something back."
Arocca said he was pleased that the Education Minister had joined as a member for the 2008 season.
