Every week, we'll be heading into the archive to recap some of the great games throughout North Melbourne's rich history.

North Melbourne took on Geelong in Round 4 of 2000, in what was its first ever game at the new Docklands Stadium.

Denis Pagan surprised many by playing Wayne Carey at centre half-back, but it was a successful move, as the number 18 collected 32 disposals and took 10 marks.

After crossing from the Cats to the reigning premiers in the off-season, Leigh Colbert kicked two goals in the first quarter against his old side.

But it was the Cats that started the brighter of the teams, leading at the first two changes.

In the third quarter however, North took control, kicking six goals to two to take a 20-point margin into the final term.

The Cats finished strongly, and gave the Roos an almighty scare in the last.

A Clint Bizzell torpedo from 70 metres narrowly missed with the final kick of the game, as North ran out 5-point winners

Emerging star Brent Harvey was best afield for the Roos with his 24 disposals and 3 goals earning him the maximum Brownlow votes.
