Taylor Garner has impressed in his first competitive hit-out since May, when he injured his hamstring at training.

North head of development, Gavin Brown, said Garner played down back and was the standout of the day.

“He got through his first full game with flying colours,” Brown told North Media.

“He was really strong in the contest, and while he didn’t rack up a lot of the footy, what he did was really, really classy and really strong.

“We were really pleased with him and most importantly he got through the game really well.”

Garner was one of six players that lined up in a side with Collingwood players, against Brisbane in Brisbane.

Majak Daw, Jasper Pittard, Tom Campbell, Joel Crocker and Matt McGuinness also took the field.

“It was a really good hit out,” Brown added.

“We were really pleased with no injuries, they all got through it and they all performed admirably, some probably a little bit better than others.”
