North Melbourne is offering members and supporters the chance to have their names printed on a special guernsey to be worn in Round 22 against Fremantle. Part of the club’s Box On debt reduction campaign, the one-off jumper will be specially designed for the occasion and will become a much cherished piece of memorabilia for those who are lucky enough to feature on it.
“I don’t know of North Melbourne ever doing something like this in its history so the chance of it happening again anytime soon is extremely unlikely,” North CEO Eugene Arocca told kangaroos.com.au.
“Supporters need to take the opportunity to get their names on the game-day jumpers before this Saturday night.”
Even Kangaroos’ number one ticket holder and superstar cricketer Ricky Ponting plans to get on board with the idea.
“That’s a great idea, a great initiative and who knows I might even get my name on one of the jumpers as well. I might have to throw a few bucks your way and see if I can get someone to wear a jumper out with my name on it.
“Whenever you can make things a little bit more personal for people I think it’s a great initiative. I even like some of the stuff that’s happening with the membership stuff now where you get your personalised membership sent out, I think that’s terrific people actually feel a little bit more a part of what the footy club’s doing.
“Look I think that’s a great idea and I’m looking forward to seeing plenty of names on plenty of jumpers when they run out in that game.”

Ponting also took time to speak about the club’s debt and urged all fellow supporters to contribute whatever they can.
“As long as I’ve known the footy club we’ve always been struggling financially and we’ve always had a big debt hanging over our head and it’s great to see some of the steps that have been taken over the last couple of years in particular to really eradicate that debt. But once again, like our charity and like our (Ponting) Foundation, they just don’t go away. You need great support from members and fans and other corporate supporters to get rid of that debt.
“If we can get on top of that and get rid of that debt as soon as possible then the footy club is certainly going to be heading in the right direction so I’d encourage everybody to help out if they can.”
