The AFL has confirmed this year's Grand Final will remain in its traditional afternoon timeslot.
As reported by AFL.com.au, the AFL commission on Thursday ticked off CEO Gillon McLachlan's recommendation of a 2.30pm start time for 2019.
McLachlan confirmed the Commission had rejected a twilight Grand Final when speaking at Thursday night's season launch at Melbourne Town Hall.
"The Toyota AFL Grand Final is the highpoint of the Australian sporting calendar. A magical day for the competing clubs, footy fans and our industry as a whole," McLachlan said.
"While we will continue to explore the possibility of a later start time in the future, it was recommended and ratified today that the traditional 2:30pm start time will remain for the 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final."
Mental health of players, the AFLW competition, and the illicit drugs policy were among the agenda items.
AFL coaches also convened at Marvel Stadium for a three-hour breakfast with senior AFL officials, with recent rule changes the dominant discussion topic.
