It's only her first season in the AFLW competition, but 18-year-old Bella Eddey is already living the dream, playing in her first finals series.

“It’s pretty surreal. To play finals in my first year is something a lot of people don’t get to do,” Eddey told North Media.

In an impressive debut year, Eddey has managed to play every match.

“When I came to the first couple of training sessions I thought that I wouldn’t even be getting a game,” she said.

“There is so much talent in our side. I thought I would be lucky to get a chop-out later in the season.”

But the small-forward has done everything right, and made the task for the selectors easy - she's made herself a part of the Roos' best team, no mean feat in a side that features the likes of Emma Kearney, Jenna Bruton, Emma King, Ash Riddell and Jas Garner.

And with a mentor like Garner, last year's AFL Players' MVP, Eddey is in the right hands to succeed.

“She’s just so relaxed. I go to 'Jas' to calm my nerves before games all the time. On the footy field she’s outstanding, but her relaxing nature off the field calms me down,” North's number three said.

“She (Garner) reassures me to be my best which sets me up well.”

Eddey hopes to continue her good form on Saturday against Collingwood.

“I’m hoping to bring some pressure down forward, lock the ball in the forward 50. When I head up to the wing I hope to get back defensively,” she said.

Her own performance aside, Eddey knows this week's task is a huge one, against one of the league's best.

“Collingwood are a great ball movement side. It’ll definitely be a good fight - they’ll bring a lot of pressure,” she said.

“Obviously being finals footy that pressure will be elevated as well.

“Defence will be super important in this game.”
