Arriving from the Western Bulldogs ahead of the 2021 season, Lachie Young’s potential to play in either defence or on the wing is an exciting addition to North Melbourne’s list.

At 189 centimetres tall, he has the height and physicality to be strong intercept defender, while his foot speed and work-rate sees him show potential further up the ground.

He played eight games in two seasons for the Western Bulldogs before arriving at Arden Street.

North Melbourne debut: Round 1, 2021
2021: After impressing in his Round 1 debut against Port Adelaide, Young locked down a spot in North’s back six, while injury and illness sidelined those around him.

He played in the first 12 games of the season, with his strong debut performance against the Power backed up by good outings against Adelaide in Round 4 and Geelong in Round 5.

Unsighted at senior level after Round 15, Young spent most of his time in the VFL playing further up the ground on the wing.

While the VFL season was once again abandoned, Young impressed with 18 disposals in the victory over Port Melbourne, and 18 disposals at his former home, Whitten Oval, against Footscray.
