A classy two-footed defender, Flynn Perez was drafted by North Melbourne having suffered an ACL rupture in his draft year.

A capable dual-sport athlete in his youth, Perez also captained Victoria in underage soccer before nominating football as his sport of choice.

He recovered from his ACL rupture in 2019 to make his AFL debut in 2020, playing the final three games of the campaign.

The slick ball-user impressed most in his third, and most recent, performance for the club, collecting 15 disposals against West Coast in Round 18.

North Melbourne debut: Round 16, 2020

2021: After making his debut at the back end of 2020, the initial expectation and hope for Perez in 2021 was to kick on and make himself and indispensable part of the backline.

Disaster struck again, however, with the young defender suffering another ACL rupture that ruled him out for the entire 2021 campaign.

Despite being unable to play, Perez stayed heavily involved in his own personal development over the season, enjoying close relationships with the likes of Aaron Hall and Aidan Corr in particular.

Perez’s natural two-footedness and slick hands are an asset North will be hoping to add to its backline in 2022, but for Perez, the 2022 season will be all about finding fitness and playing consistent football.
