VFLW R2 team: Roos make forced change for Good Friday clash

North Melbourne has made one change to its VFLW side for its Good Friday clash against Carlton at Arden Street Oval

North Melbourne has been forced to make one change to its VFLW side for its Good Friday clash against Carlton at Arden Street Oval.

Midfielder Annabel Scott comes into the line-up after missing the side's 22-point, Round 1 win over the Western Bulldogs.

She's a welcome addition to the team, after taking home third spot in the club's best and fairest count last season.

    15:00

Scott replaces Kate Reynolds, after the ruck was suspended by the League for four matches for a high hit against the Bulldogs.

The first bounce at Arden Street Oval is scheduled for 9.30am and will be followed by the VFL fixture between the same clubs set to kick-off at 12.30pm.

VFLW R2 wrap: Forward fires Roos to back-to-back wins

Off-season recruit Nyakoat Dojiok has helped fire the Kangaroos’ VFLW side to a Good Friday win over Carlton

Off-season recruit Nyakoat Dojiok has helped fire the Kangaroos’ VFLW side to a Good Friday win over Carlton, kicking three goals and racking up 21 disposals in the 4.5 (29) to 1.2 (8) victory at Arden Street Oval.

It’s North Melbourne’s second win in as many weeks, and one that came off the back of some stout defensive-minded work all across the park.

Aiming to keep their unbeaten run going in the early part of the campaign, the Roos were unrelenting in their pressure en route to a whopping total of 90 tackles.

The intent was driven by midfielders Maddie Di Cosmo and Audrey Rhodes who laid 18 and 16 tackles respectively.

    15:00

"We were able to change our game style and adapt a little bit today," VFLW senior coach Brett Gourley told NMFC Media post-game.

KANGAROOS v BLUES Full match coverage and stats

"We've played against two really quality teams to start and we're taking a lot of confidence out of the fact that we've been able to come out on top.

"We've been challenged in both games and the ability of the group to respond has been great."

Both sides struggled to move the ball fluently throughout the clash, but it was the Roos who managed to tick the scoreboard over with Dojiok using her speed and leap to kick two first-half goals to Carlton's solitary behind.

Led by co-captain Jess Jones, North Melbourne's backline held up well in the face of some persistent Carlton attacks, and it wasn't until late in the third quarter that the visitors kicked their first goal through former Roo Sophia McCarthy.

The Kangas went straight back to work after the final change, though, and continued to bring the heat around the ball throughout the fourth term.

"We spoke about just continuing to do what we do (at three-quarter time) and if there were levers we needed to pull in the final quarter we’ll do that," Gourley said on his final-break message.

"What we'd been doing had been working across the course of the game, we were able to generate a really good spare off the back of Carlton sending numbers up."

Emily Paterno's third goal of the season was a settler for the home side with six minutes left in the last quarter, and it ultimately proved to be more than enough with the Roos claiming a 21-point victory.

Elisabeth Jackson impressed for the Kangas through the midfield and wings and finished with 19 touches, while forward Renee Tierney was active inside attacking 50 on her way to 14 disposals and four marks.
