Nick Larkey was the star of the show in Sunday's victory against West Coast. The key forward was a dominant presence for North Melbourne and finished with six goals from nine scoring shots.

Although he kicked over half of his team's goals in the win, Larkey says his positive performance was a result of strong play from his teammates.

"I always say as forwards we're products of what happens up the ground. If our midfield is playing well, our backs are playing well, and the high half-forwards, I just benefit from them," Larkey told North Media.

"I was happy I reacted quickly to patterns and when the ball was moving quick, [but] I was lucky I was on the end of them. Next week it could be Cam (Zurhaar) or 'Mahns' (Jack Mahony).

"It's a team game … [and] it was definitely good to get the win."

While the Kangaroos enjoyed the immediate aftermath of the victory against the Eagles, the team's focus is now firmly on this weekend's Round 3 clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.

The Lions have won both their games this season, but Larkey thinks North is well-placed to be on the right end of an upset win.

"It's going to be a good challenge … Hawthorn's win on the weekend was pretty impressive and we let that one slip last week. The form stacks up," he said.

"We'll go over there with huge belief we can get the job done.

"It's going to be tough and we'll have to bring our A-game, [but] we're definitely prepared for that."
