Tahlia Randall's fifth season in the royal blue and white couldn't have gotten off to a better start.

In the commanding 26-point Round 1 win over the Suns, Randall, who made the switch from the backline to forward line at the beginning of last season, raked in four marks while kicking a career-best three goals.

But the 24-year-old isn't only kicking goals on AFLW gamedays, she's also found her feet in another capacity, recently graduating from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in podiatry.

Juggling work and football hasn't been an easy task though.

"It's been pretty challenging for the past four years that I've been at North, I would fly down and move my life for the season in Melbourne then after the season I would fly back home to Brisbane to live and study," said Randall to North Media.

"Moving back and forth every six months was quite challenging but it's nice to finally be located in Melbourne permanently."

Randall now splits her time between the club and podiatry, which she has a strong passion for.

"I just find it amazing how much the feet can affect the rest of the body," said Randall.

"I saw a podiatrist when I was growing up because I had issues with my feet, and it was just so interesting to see how it all worked."

Although it was more of a calculated approach to podiatry, Randall's footballing career began a bit differently.

"I started playing because of my older brother, he played under-eights at our local club Kawana Park Eagles," she said.

"They were short a few numbers one time and the coach asked if I'd like to play instead of watching so I joined in and pretty much haven't stopped since."

With the season-opener in the rear-view mirror, a significant occasion against a tough test in the Demons awaits on Friday evening for Round 2.

"Most of the North girls haven't played at the MCG before so that's going to be an amazing opportunity, let alone before a men's final which will have a great atmosphere," said Randall.

"(Round 1) was a great stepping stone for future games, we just have to be consistent with it now because that's the baseline, and we expect the group to only get better."

With plenty of star players alongside an exciting young core, there's a couple of targets in mind for the forward line leader in Season 7.

"Ultimately the goal is a premiership, but personally it's to get better and better each game in a new position," said Randall.
