North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos star Jasmine Garner has taken out her second Coaches Association Champion Player Award after being crowned the AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year in Season 7.

One of the AFLW’s strongest talents, Garner has lit up the competition over the past seven seasons and polled 76 votes to take out the Coaches Award ahead of Richmond star Monique Conti and Geelong young gun Georgie Prespakis who tied for second with 67 votes with Maddy Prespakis next on 63 votes.

A standout season in 2020 saw Garner take out her first Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award, and this season, off the back of an impressive Season 6 and a short turnaround, Garner’s dominance in the Kangaroos' engine room was rewarded by the coaches with an incredible five perfect 10s and votes in all matches except the Kangaroos' draw in the last round of the season.

AFL Coaches Association CEO Alistair Nicholson congratulated Garner on being crowned the AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year in Season 7.

“Jasmine has performed to an incredibly high level this season to win her second AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award. To poll five perfect scores and votes in all but one match during the season is an amazing effort off the back of a short lead-up to Season 7,” Nicholson said.

“The coaches have a unique perspective on what succeeds in each of the games which combined with the thought that goes into allocating the votes makes this one of the most prestigious of all the individual awards. Jasmine should be very proud to receive this award from the coaches.”
