Two of North Melbourne’s emerging stars have been named in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22under22 squad for 2019.

The initiative recognises the most exciting young talent in the AFL, with Jy Simpkin and Cameron Zurhaar among the initial 40 named on Tuesday night.

Simpkin has taken his game to a new level this season, enjoying more time through the midfield and impressing with his attack on the football.

The 21-year-old had consecutive 30+ disposal games in Rounds 15 and 16, including a 36-possession haul against the Saints.

He's had almost 19 touches a game, up on his 15 last year, and 11 in his debut season in 2017.

The number 12 has also averaged 4 clearances a game, illustrating his ability in the contest.

Zurhaar earnt a NAB Rising Star nomination in Round 7, booting 5 goals in just his 13th game at AFL level.

He repeated that feat again in Round 16, and has booted a total of 25 goals this year.

It’s his ferocious approach that has perhaps made him stand out most though, with the 21-year-old fearless and unrelenting around the contest.

Vote for Simpkin and Zurhaar now to ensure they make the final team
