1997
In: Winston Abraham
Out: Stuart Anderson (Fremantle)

In his first three seasons at Fremantle, Abraham showed glimpses of his talent without ever delivering. It was the move to Aegis Park at the end of 1997 that propelled him to another level.

A cult hero in his time at North, Abraham was a regular between 1998-2000, only missing four games in three years. He kicked more than 100 goals and also took mark of the year in 1998 against Port Adelaide at Manuka Oval.

Anderson played 61 games in four years at North but was unable to carry the form across to Fremantle, spending just one year at the Dockers for only nine games.

North's up and down season ended with a preliminary final loss to St Kilda and the club looked to breathe some life into its list with the addition of Abraham, Shannon Grant and Jason McCartney. The Kangaroos played in successive Grand Finals.
