The Brownlow Medal, the League’s most coveted individual award, will be presented to the AFL’s best and fairest player on Monday night.

While it’s unlikely that a Roo will be vying for the ultimate recognition come the final round of the count, polling a Brownlow vote on the competition’s night of nights is always a feat worth celebrating.

For that reason, NMFC Media takes a look at which North Melbourne players are in line to top the club’s 2023 leaderboard.

Harry Sheezel

Games: 23
Goals: 3

After becoming the only first-year Roo to win the Syd Barker Medal in his rookie season, Sheezel is well-poised to open his Brownlow Medal vote account.

They could come in as early as Round 1 as well, as the composed half-back flanker tallied nine marks and a game-high 34 disposals in his side’s thrilling, five-point victory over West Coast.

Two goals and 25 touches could see the AFL’s Rising Star winner be one of the three vote recipients for the game against Sydney in Round 10, while his performance out west in Round 2 was also exceptional.

Nick Larkey

Games: 23
Goals: 71

Some big bags from the club’s premier sharpshooter in an All-Australian season could easily see him add to the eight Brownlow votes he’s amassed over his career so far.

The No.20 will be a chance to bookend his career-best campaign with best-on-ground plaudits, having kicked six goals in the club’s Round 1 win, and a haul of nine in the Round 24 victory over the Suns.

Impressive outings against the Pies, Tigers, and Bombers (Round 22), may see him sneak a vote or two in losses as well.

Luke Davies-Uniacke

Games: 14
Goals: 8

Despite managing just 14 appearances in 2023, Davies-Uniacke is the punters’ favourite to top the Kangaroos’ leaderboard.

Two blitzing performances against the Eagles and Dockers to kickstart the season should see him collect an early bundle of votes, with six being a true possibility after notching 34 disposals, 10 clearances, and a goal in Round 1 and 30 disposals, 11 clearances, and a goal in Round 2.

He’ll be right in the mix for Round 19 against the Saints too, having gathered 33 possessions, 11 clearances, and nine inside 50s to earn 10 AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award votes.

Bailey Scott

Games: 23
Goals: 5

It was another standout season for Scott who was again recognised on the club’s night of nights with a second consecutive third-place finish in the Syd Barker Medal count.

Although 2023 began rather quietly, Scott's influence truly came to the forefront starting from Round 10, and it’s that game against the Swans that could see the No.8 garner more than a one vote in a match for the first time in his career.

The hard-running winger/half-back tallied 12 inside 50s, seven clearances, six rebound 50s, and a major in the three-point defeat to Sydney and led all comers with 33 disposals.

He went onto have 25-plus touches another six times but is a chance to be overlooked given the poor run of results from a team perspective.

Tarryn Thomas

Games: 12
Goals: 11

Thomas was one of North Melbourne’s most impactful players in the second half of the season following his return to senior football.

As damaging inside 50 as he was when he went into midfield, the silky Tasmanian kicked three goals on two occasions and was exceptional against the Tigers in Round 23 when he collected a season-high 25 touches to go with his two majors, five clearances and nine inside 50s.

His best chance for a vote may come in Round 24 though. While he’ll have plenty of competition, the No.26 racked up 22 disposals, 10 clearances, 10 score involvements, nine tackles, and seven inside 50s.

Career Brownlow votes: 5

Jy Simpkin (Round 2)
Griffin Logue (Round 3)
Aidan Corr (Round 9)
