Arden Street Oval will undergo an upgrade over the summer, with resurfacing works to begin in December.
Arden Street Oval was last resurfaced 10 years ago and with the club’s four teams using the Kangaroos' home ground across all 12 months of the year, it has experienced significant wear and tear.
The two-month project will be carried out across December 2023 and January 2024, ensuring the AFLW program have full access to Arden Street Oval across the AFLW finals series and minimising disruption to the men’s pre-season program.
During this period, the club’s AFL team will train at La Trobe University’s Sports Park in Bundoora, which boasts an oval, gym and multipurpose facilities.
Fans will still have the opportunity to watch the team train while based at La Trobe University’s Sports Park, with open training days and times to be advertised on the club’s website.
The team will return to training at Arden Street Oval in late January 2024 when the oval resurfacing project is expected to be finished.
The project is part of the club’s ongoing development of its Arden Street facilities to provide a world-class high-performance environment to players, coaches and staff.

The resurfacing works will not only ensure players have the best possible surface to train and play on, but also help the club push forward as a preferred venue for further events such as AFLW finals, pre-season games and Under-18 championships.
With no government or council funding available, the club has officially launched the Arden Street Oval Resurfacing Campaign which will call on the generosity of key members and donors to raise the required funds.
