North Melbourne midfielder George Wardlaw has earned his second AFL Rising Star nomination following a standout performance against Fremantle in Round 2.

The 19-year-old enjoyed arguably his best game from his 10 outings in the royal blue and white, finishing with 23 disposals, five clearances and a long-range goal to break the Dockers' run in the third quarter.

The North Melbourne faithful had to wait until Round 10, 2023 to see Wardlaw make his AFL debut, but it was worth the anticipation as the highly touted Oakleigh Chargers product displayed all the traits fans had heard about when he was taken with pick No.4 in the 2022 AFL Draft.

He recorded 16 disposals and a game-high nine tackles in his first game before earning a Rising Star nomination three weeks later with a 22-disposal, nine-tackle, and one-goal performance against Greater Western Sydney.

Wardlaw’s second nomination puts him in the running to make it back-to-back AFL Rising Stars for the Roos after teammate and close friend Harry Sheezel took out the honour last year.
