The Kangaroos claimed their second win of the VFL season on Good Friday, taking down Carlton by 16 points at Arden Street Oval.

Speaking to NMFC Media after the game, head coach Tom Lynch touched on the team's spirit to fight back in the fourth quarter, the strength of the defensive unit, and the standout performance from Finnbar Maley.

Here are his three takeaways from the victory.

Roos' spirit shines through

"It was a really important day for us to play well and the guys did," Lynch said.

"To come from behind late in that last quarter after having control in the first half was really pleasing. You could see the spirit among the boys. They were really enthusiastic about the result."

The back six stands strong

"Our defenders were awesome. They all played their role and were outstanding - (Charlie) Comben, Biggie (Nyuon), 'Daws' (Wil Dawson)," Lynch said.

"That was Daws' best performance since being drafted so it was great to see him improve.

"Also Riley Hardeman, Brayden George, Jackson Archer were fantastic with their run off half-back. They all defended really well and they certainly kept us in it."

'Unbelievable' Maley puts on Easter show

"He had a great game. He's been working really hard on his craft so I'm pleased to have seen how he played today, it was unbelievable," Lynch said.

"He was the best player on the ground and had such a strong influence forward of the ball for us.

"He had a few mates out there, too. Tyler Sellers competed hard in front of the ball and provided really good contests and we got some really good pressure from our smalls down there: Blake Drury and Robbie Hansen (jnr)."
