North Melbourne young gun Colby McKercher has signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the Kangaroos until at least the end of the 2028 season.
The new deal extends McKercher's contract, which was already secured until the end of 2026, by an extra two years.
Drafted with the No.2 pick in the 2023 AFL Draft, McKercher has quickly made a name for himself in the Kangaroos' defence, showing electric speed and exciting ball use off half-back.
His elite ability to win the ball, precise kicking, and composure under pressure have been standout features in his first two seasons.
The 20-year-old received a Rising Star nomination in Round 9, 2024 and finished in the top five for the award at the end of his debut season.
North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said McKercher has already established himself as a key part of the team and is continuing to improve.
"Colby has made a great start to his AFL career, and his professionalism and dedication have been evident from day one,” Rawlings said.
"He's a key part of our future, and his decision to sign on for another two years speaks volumes about his belief in the direction we're heading as a club.
“We're incredibly excited to see what he can achieve in the years to come.”
McKercher joins Tristan Xerri and Josh Goater as players to recommit to the club in the past month.
