Melbourne premiership player Charlie Spargo has joined North Melbourne as an unrestricted free agent.

The 25-year-old has committed to the Kangaroos after expressing his desire to come to the club following the conclusion of his season with the Demons.

The small forward was a part of Melbourne's 2021 flag success and played 108 games for the Demons after being taken with pick No.29 in the 2017 AFL Draft.

His move to North Melbourne sees him follow in the footsteps of his father, Paul Spargo, who played 81 games for the Kangaroos from 1985-92.

North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said Spargo’s experience and skill set will be a great benefit to the team.

"Charlie’s got a great blend of experience and a strong work ethic, and we're rapt with what he brings to our list," Rawlings said.

"He’s a proven performer, particularly with his ability to set up teammates going inside 50. He’s got great footy smarts and is creative in the forward half.

"He's a high-quality young man who will be a great cultural fit and an excellent support for our developing small forwards. We're excited for him to get started with the group."
