Kangaroos midfielder Mia King will miss at least the rest of the home and away season with a knee injury.

King had her left knee caught awkwardly against the ground in a tackle just before half-time in Saturday night's win against Richmond.

She didn't return to play, and scans confirmed a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury.

"Mia will have a period in a brace and we will review her progress in a couple of weeks time to see where things are at," North Melbourne senior AFLW physiotherapist Billy Williams said.

"At this early stage it's looking like a 4-6 week recovery period, and she'll do everything she can optimise her recovery."

Young winger Taylah Gatt is nearing a return to training as she continues her recovery from an ankle injury.

Williams said Gatt is progressing well and could return ahead of finals.

"She has some testing to tick off and we hope to have her back doing full training content at the back end of the week," he said.

"We will look to see her available for selection at Round 11 or 12."

Defender Eilish Sheerin (hamstring) has resumed running as she also targets a potential finals return.

"Eilish has completed her acute recovery period and is now symptom-free with her hamstring," Williams said.

"She started running on Saturday and will build out her loads and speeds this week in the rehab program.

"Given the nature of her hamstring injury we will take our time in this next phase of rehab, focusing on quality and volumes before getting her sprinting capacity back to normal at the back end of her recovery.

"She is on track to be available when we get into finals."
