Dynamic forward Cam Zurhaar says he can't wait to help lead a revitalised North Melbourne forward line in 2026 after a disrupted off-season.

Zurhaar is back training at full strength after recovering from a calf injury suffered in December, as he aims to follow up on his career-best 38 goals in 2025.

"I've had an interrupted pre-season, but I'm feeling really good at the moment and I'm excited for the season," Zurhaar told NMFC Media.

"(The calf injury) held me back a little bit but now the body's feeling great. I'm just getting my metrics up now," he said.

"I'm working on my forward craft again and just getting the continuity with all these new players that are coming in as well."

Nicknamed 'Bull', Zurhaar is now part of an attack that combines proven experience with fresh talent.

Captain Nick Larkey, veteran Jack Darling and the dynamic Paul Curtis are among the established stars, joined by a host of promising young guns including Cooper Trembath, Jacob Konstanty, Zane Duursma and newcomer Lachy Dovaston.

Zurhaar is hungry to mix it with the new-look group in the months ahead, especially first-round draftee Dovaston.

"Dovva's (Dovaston) got some swagger, that's for sure. He's an exciting young player," Zurhaar said.

"The forward line's pretty tight for spots at the moment and everyone's looking really good … it's an exciting part of the year."

This season will be Zurhaar's first as part of the club's leadership group. It's a role he's proud to take on and one that reflects his growth on and off the field.

"It's a real privilege," he said.

"(I'm) really happy to be in there and with the likes of 'Chom' (Charlie Comben), 'Souv' (Nick Larkey), Harry (Sheezel), 'LDU' (Luke Davies-Uniacke) and obviously 'Big X' (Tristan Xerri).

"It's a very exciting group to be in … they're all superstars in there."
