North Melbourne midfielder George Wardlaw has been cleared of a serious injury, after scans confirmed a low-grade strain in his left hamstring.

Wardlaw came from the ground with hamstring awareness during last Friday’s match simulation at Arden Street Oval.

The 21-year-old will build back up to full training over the next 1-2 weeks and is expected to be in the frame for selection in Round 1.

Meanwhile, veteran defender Luke McDonald has suffered a sprain to his right wrist and will need to wear a splint for the next four weeks.

McDonald will still look to train as normal over that time, with slight limitations.

He is also expected to be available for selection for the Kangaroos’ season opener against Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium.
