North Melbourne VFLW senior coach Brett Gourley will depart the club after accepting an opportunity at another club.

Gourley, a two-time premiership coach, informed the playing group of his decision this week.

Since taking the reins ahead of the 2024 season, he has presided over the most successful period in the club's VFLW history, securing back-to-back flags.

Gourley expressed his gratitude to the club for the environment created at Arden Street.

"I’m incredibly thankful for North Melbourne’s unwavering commitment to women’s football and its focus on developing good people, not just good players," Gourley said.

"I’ve made lifelong memories here and while I'm looking forward to the new opportunity ahead, I’ll always value my time with this group."

North Melbourne general manager of women’s football Erin Lorenzini said Gourley had a great impact on the playing group and women’s program.

"We continue to focus on developing our people, and Brett is a great example of that," Lorenzini said.

“Brett has made a significant contribution to the success of our women’s program, particularly over the last two seasons, but also during his time as an assistant coach in our AFLW program.

“We thank him for everything he’s done for the club, he’s a terrific person and we wish him well in his next role.”

The club will immediately begin the search for a new VFLW senior coach to lead the program into the 2026 campaign.

The Kangaroos are scheduled to kick off their season against Port Melbourne on Saturday, May 16.
