After suffering their most disappointing result of the season against  Kuwarna (Adelaide) in Round 10, the Kangaroos will target an improved performance on home turf on Saturday against in-form Gold Coast.

Round 11, North Melbourne v Gold Coast
When: Saturday, May 23 at 1.15pm AEST
Where: Marvel Stadium, VIC
How to watch: Foxtel, Kayo Sports

The opposition

Captain Noah Anderson was superb as the Suns saw off Yartapuulti (Port Adelaide) last weekend to stretch their winning streak to three games.

Anderson had eight clearances among 33 possessions in stifling Darwin heat as Gold Coast held the Power at bay to win by 25 points.

The win lifts them to fourth on the ladder with a 7-3 record.

Gold Coast's form has been built on defensive stability, after Wil Powell returned to playing half-back and Mac Andrew also made a successful shift back after playing a period in attack.

Forward Ben Long could return from an ankle injury to face the Kangaroos.

Running hot

Paul Curtis was among North Melbourne's standouts on a disappointing day against Kuwarna (Adelaide) last Saturday.

The spring-heeled No.25 kicked three goals in the defeat to take his season tally to 20, three shy of North Melbourne's goalkicking leader, Nick Larkey.

Having kicked a career-best six goals against the Tigers last month, Curtis will be out to continue his prolific form and pose problems for the Suns' well-drilled defence.

What the coach has said

North Melbourne senior coach Alastair Clarkson post-match v Adelaide: "We haven't seen (a performance) like it for the year. You don't like ever seeing it. But we've just got to get ourselves back on the bike again and get going again for next week. It's no point jumping up and down about it."

Last time we met

Gold Coast overwhelmed the Kangaroos in a seven-goal final quarter in the sides' only meeting last season, at Barossa Park during Gather Round.

North Melbourne had been in the lead late in the third term, before four goals before the three-quarter time gave the Suns momentum and a lead they would not relinquish.

Luke Davies-Uniacke (26 touches) led the way for the Roos, one day after announcing his seven-year contract extension with the club. Harry Sheezel and Jy Simpkin supported him at the stoppages, while Paul Curtis was among the most damaging forwards.

Gold Coast's engine room did the damage for the winners, with captain Noah Anderson winning 13 of his 27 disposals in the pivotal third quarter, ably backed by Matt Rowell and Touk Miller.
