North Melbourne will launch its AFLW premiership defence with a double-header against Geelong at Marvel Stadium.

The Kangaroos' season opener will be played in the weekend of August 13-16 alongside the AFL team's match against the Cats in round 23, at a time to be confirmed when the AFL's floating fixture for that round has been released.

In Round 2, the Roos will travel to Queensland for a rematch of December's Grand Final against Brisbane.

North Melbourne returns to Arden St in Round 5 for the annual SuperClash fixture against Carlton, raising much-needed funds for the Royal Children's Hospital.

The Roos also host Sydney (in Round 8) and Fremantle (during Pride Round in Round 9) at their historic Arden St home.

They will also host two games at their AFLW home-away-from-home in Tasmania, against the Western Bulldogs in Launceston and against Adelaide in North Hobart.

The premiers will play at least two games in prime time on Friday night, including an appetising clash with last year's preliminary final opponent Melbourne on Grand Final Eve.

Ticketing on-sale dates and information for the AFLW season will be released in due course.
