Goalkicking forward Paul Curtis has signed a five-year contract extension with North Melbourne, taking his tenure with the Roos out to at least 2033.

Curtis, who was already committed to the club until 2028, agreed to the extended deal that would keep him at Arden St past his 30th birthday.

Selected at pick no.35 from the Western Jets in the 2021 AFL Draft, Curtis made his AFL debut in 2022.

He has since become a mainstay in the Roos forward line, troubling defenders with his strength overhead and goalkicking nous at ground level.

He has kicked 119 goals from his 89 games, and has averaged two goals a game over the past two seasons.

Earlier this year, he kicked a career-high six goals against Richmond in Round 7.

In a sign of his reliability, Curtis has kicked a goal in each of the Roos’ 11 matches this year.

In 2026, coach Alastair Clarkson has also used him as a pinch hitter at centre bounces.

Curtis joins a list of important players to commit to the Roos beyond 2030, with Harry Sheezel, Tristan Xerri and Luke Davies-Uniacke also signing long-term deals.

Skipper Nick Larkey, along with Cooper Trembath, Cam Zurhaar and Jy Simpkin are all tied to the club until at least 2029.

North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said Curtis has become a key part of the Roos' exciting crop of youngsters.

“Paul showed very early on in his time at the club that he was a special talent,” Rawlings said.

“He was taken a bit later in the draft compared to some of our other young stars but he adapted quickly to the demands of being an AFL player.

“As a player, he’s just so dangerous in the forward 50, but he has also shown an ability to get involved in the centre square.

“Off the field, he’s a role model in the way he trains and prepares himself for each game.

“We’re thrilled to sign him to such a long-term deal and his teammates will be just as pleased.”

Curtis’s signing follows Thursday’s news that midfielder George Wardlaw has committed to the Kangaroos for at least another two seasons
