Young midfielder George Wardlaw has shown his loyalty to North Melbourne, committing to the club for at least another two seasons.
The 21-year-old has signed a contract extension that will see him remain at Arden Street until at least the end of 2028.
Wardlaw has enjoyed a consistent first half to his fourth year at the club, after a hamstring issue delayed his start to the 2026 season. So far this year, he is averaging 19 disposals and five tackles per game.
A highlight of his season to date came in the Round 11 win against Gold Coast, where he turned the game with 13 disposals and five score involvements in the final term alone.
The inside midfielder was taken with pick No.4 in the 2022 AFL Draft as a powerful, ball-winning utility capable of tearing games apart. As competitive and driven as they come, he has impressed with his ability to find the football and impact contests.
Wardlaw has quickly emerged as a clear fan favourite thanks to his explosive playing style and team-first attitude. His talent was also recognised early by the wider football community, earning him two Rising Star nominations across his first seven games and a spot in the AFLPA 22Under22 team in 2024.
North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said the club was thrilled to secure the midfielder's signature.
“George is clearly a massive part of what we’re building here, and to have him commit to the club shows his confidence in where we’re heading,” Rawlings said.
“We’re starting to see some real consistency come into his game now.
"His competitive drive and work ethic set a fantastic standard, and we’re excited to see him continue to grow over the next few years".
Wardlaw's commitment follows promising forward Cooper Trembath's new deal with the Kangaroos, announced last month.
