North Ballarat has slipped to third position on the VFL ladder after losing its match to Geelong at home on Sunday.

In a game littered with skill errors and poor decision making, the Roosters went down by 9-points and suffered their second loss of the season.

North Melbourne listed players had plenty of the ball throughout the afternoon but couldn’t get the home-side over the line.

Of the seven Kangaroos’ representatives, Josh Smith stood out the most with 27 disposals after playing both ends of the field.

Corey Jones continued his hot run in the forward line and had another eight shots on goal to go with 19 touches.  The 29 year-old is relishing his new lease on life after becoming a part-timer down at Arden Street after a unique deal with coach Brad Scott.  He finished with four goals and four behinds.

Jones has booted 21 goals for the year and has been named among the best on ground players five times.

Leigh Harding (24 disposals, 7 tackles) put the disappointment of being dropped yet again from the senior North side behind him while Gavin Urquhart (17 disposals, 4 tackles) works hard to push for a call up after missing several weeks earlier in the season with a knee injury.

Aaron Edwards (16 possessions, 7 marks) is also looking to earn his spot back in the AFL ranks and 2009 draftee Brayden Norris (11 disposals) would have been happy to get out on the park after being the travelling emergency for North Melbourne last week and not being able to play.

Warren Benjamin had a respectable day (13 disposals, 3 tackles) but still needs have a bigger influence if he’s going to make a debut for the Kangaroos.
