Wil Dawson and Tom Blamires are knocking on the door for recalls heading into North Melbourne’s Round 21 clash with Hawthorn following outstanding performances in the VFL over the weekend.

Playing a mix of ruck and forward against Brisbane at Brighton Homes Arena, Dawson booted three goals from 18 disposals, while also notching 26 hitouts, seven marks and seven tackles.

"His leading up to the ball was excellent, and his ability to make a contest in the ruck is great, so we're very pleased with how he played and his ability to get on the scoreboard," VFL coach Adam Marcon said post-game.

Mostly patrolling the wing with some spells on the ball, Blamires tallied 32 touches, nine inside 50s and a goal to put his name firmly in the mix.

Defender Charlie Comben suffered a big hit to the chest in the club’s Round 20 defeat to the Saints and will need to prove his fitness ahead of the Roos’ trip to Launceston, as will Tom Powell (groin) and Callum Coleman-Jones (ankle).

Jacob Konstanty (illness) and Riley Hardeman (AFL emergency) could receive call-ups despite not playing at either level last weekend.

Taylor Goad put in a strong shift for the reserves as he eyes a third senior appearance after featuring in back-to-back matches earlier this season. The young ruck won 27 hitouts, five clearances and kicked a goal against the Lions to raise his hand for a recall.

Zac Fisher could come into consideration on the back of 27 possessions in Queensland, as could Robert Hansen jnr and Luke Urquhart who notched 23 and 22 disposals respectively, with Urquhart also finishing with six clearances.

Ollie Griffin hit the scoreboard again, kicking one goal against the Lions, while fellow untried AFL-listed youngster River Stevens chipped in with two.
