Defender Josh Goater is among four potential inclusions as North Melbourne named its extended squad for Sunday's closing match of the season against Sydney at the SCG.

Goater is joined in the squad by veteran Luke McDonald, in-form midfielder Bailey Scott and mid-season draftee Ollie Griffin.

Vice-captain Harry Sheezel is North Melbourne's only confirmed out this week, after scans revealed he suffered a fractured cheekbone during Round 23's fighting loss against Geelong.

Griffin continued a prolific run at VFL level with three goals in the reserves against the Cats last weekend.

Scott was the standout performer in that match, collecting 38 disposals along with eight tackles and seven clearances.

Goater impressed in defence, gathering 26 disposals and six marks, while McDonald was declared fit this week after recovering from a calf injury.

The Kangaroos will name their selected team to face the Swans on Friday at 5pm AEST.

Sunday's game at the SCG starts at 3.20pm AEST.
