North Melbourne midfielder Harry Sheezel will miss the club's closing match of the season against Sydney due to a fractured cheekbone.
Sheezel will undergo surgery on the injury, which he suffered during last Saturday’s first half against Geelong.
"Harry copped a head knock late in the second quarter which caused significant swelling of his eye," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.
"Follow up scans revealed a fractured cheekbone which Harry will have surgery on early next week, once the swelling subsides."
Veteran defender Luke McDonald is available for selection ahead of Sunday’s game against the Swans at the SCG, having progressed through the final stages of his calf rehab.
"A conservative decision was made to hold Luke out of match play to enable greater recovery from testing to place him in as good of a position as possible going into this week and into the off-season,” White said.
