North Melbourne Werribee has cruised to a 61-point preliminary final victory over Collingwood, booking a spot in next Sunday’s VFLW Grand Final.

In a dominating performance, the Roos got out to a hot start by kicking four goals to one in the first term and never looked back.

Nyakoat Dojiok was the catalyst for the Kangaroos, kicking three goals in the first half to help the Shinboners to a handy 35-point lead at the main break.

North Melbourne Werribee were unrelenting and did not slow down in the second half, kicking five goals to zero to remind the competition of their ability to win big.

The Roos will try and complete a coveted ‘threepeat’ next Sunday in the VFLW Grand Final, against minor premiers Williamstown.

Midfielder Abby Favell made her return from AFLW duties felt, collecting 21 disposals at 91 per cent efficiency. She added eight tackles and nine marks, leaving defenders in her dust while brilliantly setting up a goal in the third term.

Young gun Shauna McElligott was great up forward, gathering eight disposals and five tackles and a goal, getting on the back of a transition play in the third quarter. 

Ruck Maddison Torpey (14 disposals, 12 hitouts, six clearances) was competitive throughout the contest. She kicked a goal in the first term after marking a Dojiok shot at goal that fell short. 

Defender Sarah Wall (eight disposals, four intercepts) was tough behind the ball all day. Her highlight came at the start of the fourth quarter, where she made a great effort to chase down tackle a Collingwood player running in for a certain goal.

Key forward Nyakoat Dojiok showed why she is still one of the best goalkickers in the league, booting through three which all came in the first half. This included a spectacular goal out the back of the defence in the first quarter.

Captain Renee Tierney also kicked three goals, often timing her leads at the ball well to create separation from defenders. Midfielder Alana Barba was the leading ball-winner for the day, managing 23 disposals to go along with five tackles.

Fellow midfielder Ava Seton (20 disposals, nine tackles, one goal) rounded out an outstanding team midfield performance. Charlotte Ryan also added 21 disposals, seven tackles and five intercepts.

The Roos will take on the Seagulls in their third consecutive VFLW Grand Final. The decider will be at Ikon Park on Sunday, September 19 at 11am AEST.
