The Kangaroos will be forced into at least one change as they prepare to take on Hawthorn in Cairns on Friday night, with forward Kate Shierlaw ruled out due to concussion.Â
Shierlaw reported symptoms after Sunday's win over Carlton in the AFLW SuperClash at Arden St, and will now complete mandatory concussion protocols.
Premiership stars Libby Birch and Tahlia Randall are also in doubt as the Roos prepare to travel north to face the Hawks on just a five-day turnaround.
Birch will undergo a fitness test later this week after she stretched the inside of her right knee during the game against the Blues.Â
"Pleasingly she was able to play out the match and functioned well, and scans have since confirmed there is no serious injury," senior physiotherapist Billy Williams said on Tuesday.
"We will need to monitor how her symptoms behave over this week to see if she's recovered well enough to train tomorrow and play this Friday."
Randall suffered a knock to her left elbow during the game and will also be monitored to determine her availability for the trip to Queensland.Â
Winger Taylah Gatt (groin) will have another week on the sidelines as she continues to track towards what would be a welcome return for the Kangaroos.
"Taylah is almost through her rehabilitation program, and just needs to tick off some final training loads to satisfy our high performance team that she is fit for a return to play," Williams said.
