Winger Taylah Gatt will be available for potential selection for Friday night's AFLW blockbuster against Melbourne, having recovered from a groin issue.
The two-time premiership player, who is yet to feature this season, would be a welcome addition as the Kangaroos prepare to take on the league-leading Demons at Ikon Park.
"Pleasingly, Taylah has completed a solid block of training and is feeling fast and agile," senior physiotherapist Billy Williams said on Tuesday.
"She’ll train again tomorrow and be available for selection."
Defender Libby Birch will test her fitness at training on Wednesday, after missing Friday night's loss to Hawthorn due to a knee issue suffered against Carlton.
"Given the five-day turnaround to play in Cairns, we felt managing her last week was in the best interest to set her up for the rest of the season,” Williams said.
"She will test at training tomorrow but is in a good position to push for a return this Friday."
Forward Kate Shierlaw is also nearing a return as she nears the final stages of mandatory concussion protocols.
"Kate will need to complete a full-contact training session tomorrow to be exited from protocols and be available for our match against Melbourne,” Williams said.
Elsewhere, defender Sarah Wall will undergo tests to determine the extent of a knee injury suffered during Sunday's VFLW Grand Final win over Williamstown.
"Sarah, in the last quarter, was involved in a contact mechanism where she unfortunately injured her right knee," Williams said.Â
"She’s having investigations and we will be able to update with more information at a later date."
Midfielder Nicole Bresnehan (calf) is progressing in her rehab, and is on track to return in around 3-4 weeks.
