The good form of several players at North Ballarat and Werribee will cause much debate at the selection table.
NMFC.com.au looks at those who could be in line for a call-up.
Have your say on the potential changes below.
Brent Harvey – The 346-game veteran is a certain starter, although a bout of gastro early in the week threw a spanner in the works.
Lachlan Hansen – The good form of Majak Daw and Aaron Black kept Hansen on the sidelines last week, but he’s a ready-made replacement should Scott opt for a change-up in personnel up forward.
Robbie Tarrant – The big forward will need to prove his fitness during the week to push for a spot. Even then, he’ll be competing with Hansen, Black and Daw to regain a place.
Luke Delaney – A best-on-ground performance for North Ballarat has put Delaney back in the mix. Should one of North’s defenders go down, he looks ready to step up following an injury-interrupted pre-season.
Levi Greenwood – The rugged midfielder was the best of the North-listed players at Werribee, returning to his best.
Like several others pushing up, the form of North’s on-ball brigade will make it difficult, but given the success of Ryan Bastinac in a stopping role against the Power, he may be looked at to play on one of the Bulldogs’ dangerous midfielders.
Ben Jacobs – Two 30-plus possession efforts in as many weeks will have Jacobs firmly in the mind of the coaches. He was a regular during the
NAB Cup, and looks one of the closest to a return given recent form.
Liam Anthony – Named as an emergency against the Power, Anthony is a proven ball winner and will be looking for more opportunities.
Jordan Gysberts – Having taken ‘a step forward’ according to development coach John Lamont in the VFL, the former Demon edges closer to a North debut. Like Greenwood, Anthony and Jacobs, he’ll find it tough to break in given the form of North’s starting midfielders.
