Sydney will give Lance Franklin until later in the week to prove his fitness, ahead of a potential return against North Melbourne.

The key-forward has missed the last three games due to a minor hamstring strain.

“It’s too early to say at this point,” Swans' coach John Longmire said of Franklin’s availability.

“We’ve just got to make sure we follow a really detailed plan and make sure he’s ready to go when he’s right to play; whether that’s this week or next week, it’s just a bit too early.

“We’ll see how he goes tomorrow, but then we’ll see how he goes Thursday and make a call then.”

Franklin booted three majors when the teams last met, but was kept goalless in his only appearance at Blundstone Arena, back in 2016.

Meanwhile, Longmire is confident Sam Reid (hip) and Kieren Jack (concussion) will put their hands up to play.

“They are OK. They are both a big chance to play this week, so that’s a good sign,” he said.

The Swans enjoying an impressive return to form with a five-point win over Essendon, but still with plenty of work to do, with a 2-6 record.

“This week there’s another challenge … North Melbourne had more scoring shots than the team that’s on top of the ladder last week,” Longmire added.
