Scott Thompson, Shaun Atley and Kayne Turner could all be available for selection against Hawthorn on Friday night, interim coach Rhyce Shaw says.

Thompson missed last week’s game against West Coast after surgery to repair a ruptured testicle, but is in line to make a quick return.

“He’s a big chance. I don’t know how, but he is,” Shaw said on Tuesday.

“He’s looking after himself in all the right areas. He’ll have a crack at training and we’ll assess him after that.”

There were initial fears of a serious knee injury to Shaun Atley, but the versatile speedster is hopeful of playing his 100th consecutive game.

“It looked pretty bad when we first saw it. He stayed down for a little bit,” Shaw said.

“To his credit he somehow thinks he’s going to play as well.”

Having been rested last week, Turner is ready to go.

“Kayne’s looking good. I could see him training really well today and putting his hand up again,” Shaw said.

“We’ll have to see what happens with the side at the end of the training session (on Tuesday).

“The guys are really invested in what’s going on and how we want to go about it, and they want to be out there. We’ll give him (Turner) every opportunity, and just see how he pulls up. ”

The trio could be key to the team’s chances against the Hawks, after a disappointing effort in the West.

“We went over there and we just didn’t execute what we wanted to. That was really disappointing,” Shaw added.

“We are looking to rectify that pretty quickly, and off a six-day break we get the opportunity to do that.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and the boys are looking forward to putting their best foot forward again and going up against a really good side at our home deck.

“It’s really important the brand we want to play and the brand our supporters are seeing us play.”
