Career so far

An explosive and versatile midfielder, Aaron Hall has had a rollercoaster career to this point.

After initially being overlooked by Tasmanian representative sides and subsequently the National Draft, Hall was recruited by the Gold Coast Suns with pick 7 of the 2012 pre-season draft after starring for Hobart in the TSL.

Hall made an impact early at the Suns, playing in Round 1 and 8 games total in his debut season.

He established himself in the Suns’ best 22 as a forward in 2013, playing 22 games and finishing 8th in the best and fairest.

Hall was in and out of the team throughout 2014 and the first half of 2015, until an injury to star Gary Ablett Jnr saw him gain an opportunity in the midfield.

The Gold Coast number 33 excelled in his new role, having at least 24 disposals from Rounds 17-23, earning three Brownlow votes in the Round 19 ‘Q-Clash’ with the Lions.

Hall began 2016 in blistering fashion, and he became just the third person to poll three Brownlow votes in each of the first three rounds of a season.

He impressed many with his pace and penetration through the midfield, showcasing match-winning abilities.

A career-best season saw Hall average 27.8 disposals a game, and secure a fifth-place finish in the Suns’ Club Champion award.

Hall was again one of the Suns’ best performers in 2017, as he averaged 25.6 disposals throughout the year. He was exceptional in Round 17 against eventual premiers Richmond, collecting a career-high 40 disposals.

Injury and form kept the star Sun to just six games in 2018, but if he can return to his 2016-2017 form, North Melbourne may have found a new match-winner.

What they say

“We are confident Aaron can return to his best with us and that’s something to really look forward to for everyone involved.

“At his best, he can mix it with some of the best midfielders in the competition and we know he’ll get back to that level which is really exciting.

“We believe Aaron's best footy is ahead of him and we expect him to really flourish at Arden Street. We're excited about having him on board with us.” - North Melbourne GM of Football, Cam Joyce

“He’s good with the ball, he’s powerful, he’s explosive, and he’s clearly a match-winner.

“He has played off half-forward and half-back so he brings versatility and again goes towards building that midfield depth.” - Shaun Higgins

What he says

“They (North Melbourne) are definitely a team on the rise,”

“I think that using my power and speed to come out of the stoppage and deliver the ball is my niche.

“I think I play my best football as an inside mid and Brad (Scott) says he sees me as that type of player.

“I’m looking to get better and I’m looking to improve and I really think I can do that and become a more consistent player under his coaching."
